You're So Tweet- Crafting Family

It's Tuesday...and that means it's my day to post over at Crafting Family! Today I have a cute little pic a friend of mine just emailed me- it's my son when he was a cute little toddler, now he's 12!! Love when those lost photos from the past show up, just have to scrap them!
Yes, I went totally corny with the title, but he's a little bird in a cage, it was the first thing that came to mid, so I decided to go with it!  Don't forget about our sketch challenge going on right now at Crafting Family, stop on by and link up for a chance to win a great prize!! =) T

Whoos On First- Sketches in Thyme

Hello and happy weekend!! Getting ready for another fabulous fall weekend here in New England...soccer games, football watching and apple picking, can't wait!! Over at Sketches in Thyme we have another Blast from the Past sketch to share this week, and it's a 2-pager!

Here's the sketch:

and here's the layout I created:

Now I have a scrapping confession to make, see that absolutely adorable felt owl on my layout? And see how it has NOTHING to do with the baseball game pictures? I just HAD to use it, so I went with the totally corny "Whoos on First" as my title to combine the hooting of owls with the baseball reference. I know, I'm really stretching it on this one, but that owl was just so stinking cute and it matched my son's orange shirt. Would have been great if I had an orange felt baseball, but hopefully the scrapbooking police will let this one slide!

Want to give this sketch a try? Link up at Sketches in Thyme, we'd love to see your creation! =) T

School Spirit- Scrap It With a Song

We're playing along with school-themed songs all month at Scrap It With a Song. Today's newest song for the playlist is "Be True to Your School" by The Beach Boys. I printed the pics from my kiddos' first day of school 2 weeks ago- 2 kids in middle school now, how did that happen? Here's what I came up with:

In addition to the song from Scrap it with a Song, I have several other challenges aiding in the inspiration for this layout. I started with this great sketch from Sketchabilities:

I also incorporated the "Spirit" challenge from Bird is the Word, and included a stamped tag as an embellishment for the "Tag You're It" challenge at Paper Issues. Want to play along with us at Scrap It With a Song? Link up your takes on any of our school songs by September 30th! =) T

Just Dance- Child's Play Challenges

We have a new challenge up at Child's Play Challenges, this week we're playing Twister!! I decided to pull the bright primary colors and the bold graphic arrow from the board game to create my layout:

I was really wanting a big jumbo chipboard arrow for my layout, but since I didn't have one it was time to pull out the Cricut- sadly it's the first time I've hit the power button since May, need to remember to use this machine!! To get that "chipboard" feel, I cut the arrow out 4 times and layered them. I then wanted to add some bling, so I covered the arrow in black stickles, not easy to see in the photo, but it has some nice sparkle!

Would love for you to get twisted with us over at Child's Play Challenges You have until September 30th to link up takes on any of this month's challenges! =) T

No More Pencils- Child's Play Challenges

This week at Child's Play Challenges we're taking inspiration from the all-important back to school supply, the #2 Pencil! I pulled out the pic of my kiddos last day of school in June and used "No more pencils, no more books" as my title (I left out the part about teacher's dirty looks- I absolutely ADORE the teachers in our school, and could never imagine them giving anyone a dirty look!!).

Followed a wonderful sketch from Deconstructed Sketches to get my layout started. Used a great POLKA DOT background paper for the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog and added 1 photo corner, 2 pieces of ribbon and 3 buttons for the 321 challenge at Shop Our Stash

We have an entire month of Back-to-School challenges lined up at Child's Play Challenges, so far we have used The Giving Tree and #2 Pencils. Hope you'll get a chance to link up with us, you have the whole month of September to join us!! =) T

Birthday Pancakes- Crafting Family

Hello and happy Tuesday, time for my weekly post for The Crafting Family

A quick little layout using all scraps, other than the cardstock background! I inked up each scrap before layering it, to give each piece a little definition.  I am also linking this layout (ANYTHING BUT A CARD) up to Desert Island Craft Challenge- I've used ALPHABET paper, and included the NUMBER 10 for my daughter's bday. =) T

Feed them on your Dreams- Scrap It With a Song

This week at Scrap It With a Song, we're singing along to the song "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. I had a couple adorable pics of my niece picking berries over the summer, so decided to use the line, "feed them on your dreams" as my title:

This was a quick little layout to put together, with thanks to a great color scheme from Color Throwdown, and a fun sketch from iClassyGirl.com! =) T

Hello Sunshine- Sketches in Thyme

This month we're pulling out favorite sketches at Sketches in Thyme for a bit of "Blast from the Past". First up we have a 2-photo sketch originally posted in May 2011:

and here's the new layout I created:

Sunny Days- Childs Play Challenges

This week at Child's Play Challenges we're getting inspired to scrap with the wonderful story book, The Giving Tree.  Since summer vacation has just wrapped up for us here, I'm scrapping all the fabulous pics from our adventures, and have LOTS of beach pages to do! I pulled a line from the story, "I need sunny days" as the title for my layout.

This was a super simple layout to put together too, under 20 minutes which is my latest max time to spend on a layout! The pattern paper background is a gorgeous piece from Close to my Heart. I added an 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock (which I fancied up with fun scissors and ink), couple of strips of ribbon, few stickers and my layout was complete!!

I hope you'll hop on over to Child's Play Challenges to see what the rest of the DT has come up with, and share your take on the challenge too!=) T
