Shine

Hello crafty friends! The second challenge for March is up at the Scrap Our Stash challenge blog, and it's my turn for show and tell!

and here's my take:

I've had this fun photo of my niece at the beach last summer that I've been waiting to scrap, and the jumbo pic on the left side of the sketch worked perfectly for it. I layered the cloud pattern paper on top of the striped background, and ran strips of "best day ever" washi on the top and bottom of the clouds. Then I dug through my stash pulling anything summer-related and created a few clusters, scattering star sequins in each cluster as the final touch. Looking forward to seeing your take on this Pick Your Side Sketch challenge. =) T

Awesome

Hello crafty friends! Friday is my day off, and so I always treat myself to a little time in the craft room before I get started on any errands or work I need to do here at home. And because I love to get started with a sketch, I headed over to Paper Issues to see what they had for a sketch challenge this month:

No photo description available.

This sketch looked like so much fun, and while I'd really love to use the hexagons, my heart was saying "Stars". So here's what I came up with:

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling

These were pics of my son last week at his Indoor Track Awards Banquet, and since he was one of the State All Stars, I just had to include stars in my background! I've had this great piece of messy grid paper in my stash for YEARS and YEARS, and the blues and greens where just what I was looking for. I had a great star cut file, but rather than using as is, I fussy cat around each star so that I only had the outline, and it didn't cover too much of that great messy background. I added the black foam "awesome" for the title and also pulled out my Dymo label maker and punched out the "indoor track award winner" as a sub title. Strips of journaling layered over a silver doily for  little bling, and this fun layout was complete! Thanks for stopping by. =) T

Yay All Day

Hello crafty friends! Ever feel like you're in a scrappy slump? A scrapbook challenge is always just the thing I need to get those creative juices flowing! Last week, my friend and Creative Memories consultant, Karen, posted a sketch challenge on her Facebook page, and I just had to join in:

And here's my take:

Because this sketch was a Creative Memories challenge, the requirement was to use only CM pattern papers and embellishments. I had just purchased this fun "Happy BirthYay" collection from Karen, and it's bright colors and celebratory accents were perfect for a page about my daughter getting her Learner's Permit. Since the 2 photos I had to use were horizontal, I flipped the sketch to get started. Then I cut 1 1/2" strips from a single sheet of double sided PP and tucked 4 behind my pics. I also used the Banner Border Maker Cartridge and punched a strip of banners from a bright green in the collection and I layered over the pink. After that it was just a matter of going through the embellishments and stickers and having fun making a couple clusters of cuteness!

For the final touch I added a few Nuvo drops, ink splatters, and glitter over all the heart embellishments. Thanks for stopping by! =) T

Good Vibes Only

Hello craft friends! It's my turn over at the Scrap Our Stash challenge blog. This month we have 2 fun challenges to get your creative juices flowing, the first is the Saturday Morning Cartoon challenge:

and here's my take:

I took inspiration from the colors in the Snoopy picture and grabbed green cardstock and a sheet of patterned paper with sweet yellow hearts for my backgrounds. I also found a scrap of strawberry paper in my stash, perfect for this layout! I cut the "good vibes only" ...title from an old cut apart page, and embellished with a bunch of green label stickers. I also added green Nuvo Drops, ink splatters, and twine for some extra color. I rarely use green, and was surprised at how much I found in my stash! Looking forward to seeing your take on this Saturday Cartoon Sketch challenge. =) T
