Happy BEE Day- Paper Issues

Hexagons and bees are everywhere these days, so that's the theme of the latest challenge at Paper Issues, Honey Bee!! I was racking my brain trying to think of what bee-related photos I had to scrap ...and since the answer was "none", I decided to go with a little bee-related pun "Happy BEE Day". I could have also used "BEE-utiful" or "BEE happy", or even "sting operation"...the possibililties are endless!!

For my bees, I pulled out a stamp from my stash- I purchased this little bumblebee from the $ bin at Michaels at least 3 years ago, and this was the first time it was used! I embossed the honeybees in black, and then filled their striped bellies in with gols glitter for a bit of bling! I embossed the BEE letters in black as well.

If you have a honey of a project you'd like to shae with us at Paper Issues, we'd love to see it! =) T

Rainbow Birthday Girls- Twisted Sketches

There's a new sketch at Twisted Sketches, here's my take on it:

This week we've added the twist of "white", so I decided to go with white felt. Since it was a rainbow-themed birthday party, I handcut scallops out of white felt, and then did a quick little stitching in light blue around the edges, giving it a cloud-like effect. The pic didn't come out all that great, I promise the layout is MUCH CUTER in person!!

Hop on over to Twisted Sketches to see the sketch and how the rest of the DT played with it! =) T

Beauty & the Beach- Childs Play Challenges

We have a new challenge up at Child's Play Challenges, this week we're taking our inspiration from the board game, Scrabble! I looked to my stash for this one, and pulled a package of Scrabble letter tile stickers I've been hoarding for YEARS!! Still only used 5 letters from the package, but it's a step, right?

The chipboard "beauty" is also an oldie-but-goodie from the stash. I bought these from the Michaels $1 bin about 3 years ago and just never had the right page for them, well today was the day! I inked up the plain chipboard with navy ink and then added Versa Mark ink and Ultra Thick Embossing Powder, and repeated this process several times to give the title a super-glossy look. It almost looks like the water coming up on the beach!

Would love it if you came on over to Child's Play Challenges and see what the rest of the DT has been up to, and maybe even link up with us! =) T

July 4th- Crafting Family

It's Tuesday and that means it's my day to post at The Crafting Family. In honor of Memorial Day, I pulled out my red, white and blue supplies and an olf July 4th photo to scrap:

This was a quick LO to put together, the most time consuming was cutting the stars for the banner from the American Crafts PP. I inked them all before popping them on dimensionals and stringing them across the twine. Easy-peasy patriotic banner!! =) T

BFF Photo Shoot- Child's Play Challenges

this week's challenge at Child's Play Challenges is to create a layout inspired by a favorite kid craft, friendship bracelets. My daughter and her BFF borrowed the camera on one of their playdates and had a little photo shoot, they took a TON of crazy pics! I chose 2 of my favs for this layout:

I chose a fun pattern paper with bright colorful stripes to mimic the bracelets, and added 3 strips of twine across the page for another bracelet touch! Stop on by Child's Play Challenges to see what the rest of the DT has created and link up your own takes! =) T

Chalk It Up- Crafting Family

Tuesday is my day to post at Crafting Family, so I have a fun LO to share with you from yesterday!

Started with some fabulous papers sent to me from the Crafting Family Shop- oh the benefits of being on a DT, thank you Christine! Papers are from Basic Grey and American Crafts. My fun little trick on this page? The green and cream circles are from a full sheet of PP, I simply cut a strip of them to use as a decorative element. Now I still have a 12x11" piece of this fun PP to use- so watch for it on a future LO! =) T

Flapjack Friday- Sketches in Thyme

Hello there! Forgot to post my LO for last week's sketch at Sketches in Thyme! This week we have a 3-photo sketch of my design with lots of wiggle room to add your own embellies and personal touches! Here's the LO I created:

and here's the sketch:

This week at Paper Issues, we're using NON TRADITIONAL supplies in our projects, so I made my photo mat out of 3 sheets from a guest check receipt pad. The kiddos have these in their kitchen set for when they play restauraunt and I thought they'd work well with this food-themed lage!

If you'd like to join in the fun over at Sketches in Thyme, we have 3 great sketches to scrap to each month, just link up by the 31st! =) T

Our Summer life- Scrap It With a Song

We have a new song up at Scrap It With a Song, and it's one of my all-time favorites, "In My Life" by The Beatles. It's such a beautiful song and I wanted to do something wonderfully sentimental, but when it came time to scrap I just wasn't feeling that way. So here's what I went with:

I had these 3 cute pics of my kiddos being goofy at the lake last summer, so I decided to do a layout about our summer life. My journaling reads, "Love giving you summer days filled with picnics, playgrounds and lots of swimming and sunshine. That's what summer is all about!"

Stop on by Scrap It With a Song and see how the rest of the DT played along, and link up with us too! =) T

Grade 4- Twisted Sketches

It's new sketch time at Twisted Sketches, this week we have a great 1-photo sketch to play with (my favorite), along with the twist of BUTTONS (another favorite!). You'll have to stop over to Twisted Sketches to see Anam's fabulous sketch, but here's my take on it:

My fun & frugal trick for this layout? I LOVE to use those jumbo diecuts, but sometimes they are pricey, and I am CHEAP!! Over the years I have purchased a variety of the jumbo diecuts in various shapes, and before putting them to use on the layout, I trace them onto a sheet of chipboard and save as a template. Now I have templates off all my favorite jumbo diecut shapes to trace onto pattern papers anytime, as I did here on this LO!  Once I had my shape cut, I inked around the outside edge, andthen doodled a scallop around the inside edge, just to highlight the shape a bit more.

Stop on over to Twisted Sketches to see the sketch, and a bunch more great takes on it from the rest of the DT! =) T

Mother's Day- Childs Play Challenges

This week's challenge at Child's Play is to create a layout based on the story book, "Are You My Mother". I decided to use the turquoise and yellow from the cover and scrap a family photo from Mother's Day:

I decide to USE MY STASH for the weekly challenge at Use It Tuesday, so I stapled the last scrap or yellow ribbon from my stash as photo corners, used "the facts" journaling card that I've been hoarding for 3 years, and stamped on a strip of white paper that was from a package of album refills.

If you'd like to take part in this or any of our May challenges, be sure to visit us at Child's Play Challenges and link up by May 31st! =) T

K'Nex- Crafting Family Post

So happy that I'm back to posting every Tuesday for Crafting Family (you can read about my comeback here) !! Today's post is a quick layout I made using some great papers from Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye:

Have sort of become addicted to the red/turquoise color combo, but it's just so bright and cheery who can resist? I have a fun new purchase of a cloud border punch from EK Success that I used on the bottom portion of my grey and white chevron PP. For some texture I added a strip of ric rac, a chipboard spot for my title and a fabric butterfly from my Etsy shop.

Stop on by Crafting Family to see all the great DT members, we'll be posting there every day, so always something to be inspired by! =) T

Let's Go- Paper Issues

The latest theme over at Paper Issues is "Let's Go Abroad", and while I didn't have any travel pictures, I did have a fabulous sheet of of car paper that I have been hoarding for years! Since I've been saving it forever for "the perfect page", I figured I'd use it since the playful pattern and bright primary colors go well with this sweet photo of my nephew.

My little go-to trick on this layout is with my monagram A- I cut this letter out 7 times from the Cricut, ran one letter through my Big Shot to emboss it, and then stacked them all to create a faux chipboard letter! There are a TON of fabulous "Let's Go Abroad" projects over at Paper Issues, I hope you'll go check them out and link up with us too! =) T

Snooze- Child's Play Challenges

This week at Child's Play Challenges we're scrapping with a little help from our friend, Mr. Potato Head! I decide to go with a Kraft background to mimic the brown of the potato, and then added some primary colors to match his accesories!

Other than the background cardstock, this layout was put together with nothing bt scraps! The plaid scalloped strip is really only 8" long, so I cut it and made it look like it went behind the layout, a sneaky way to make less look like more! The journal card was also cut in half and split to elongate it a bit! I also mimicked this splitting trick by stamping the chevron design in sections at the top and bottom, rather than filling the entire page.

Stop on by Child's Play Challenges to see how the rest of the DT was inspired to create with Mr. Potato Head! =)T

Rain Dance- Color Challenge for True XOXO

It's all about color this month at True XOXO...but instead of beautiful colors that you love, it's all about the color combos you hate to work with, those unconventional colors and the NON go-to colors. I decided to go with mustard yellow- not a fan of yellow in my LOs anyway, but mustard? Well that's just horrid! I also combined it with navy, which is another color I rarely use, I'm much more of a sky blue scrapper! Here's what I came up with:

well, this is NOT my favorite layout in the world, but I have to admit, I kinda like it (maybe not enough to use mustard again, but I can put this LO in the scrapbook without cringing!). If you have color combos that you shy away from, dig them out and link them up with us at True XOXO! =) T

Call Family 2008- Craft Garden

Last day to take part in the CHILDS PLAY BLOG HOP!!

Hello and Happy May!! Today starts a new month and a new challenge at The Craft Garden! This month we have a gorgeous pic to inspire us, icey popsicles in lovely spring colors. Here's what I came up with:

Every year I make a photo collage of a few of my favorite pics from that year, and use that as the "title page" of the annual scrapbook. I realized I was behind, and have been catching up by making the collages of past years- look for more of these coming soon! It's a quick and easy way to get a bunch of pics all on one layout without getting too busy!

Check out the rest of the DT's yummy projects, and link up your own with us by May 31st at The Craft Garden! =) T
