Hello Patriots

Hello crafty friends! Time for my 2nd Design Team assignment over at the Scrapy Land challenge blog. They do biweekly challenges, and the theme is always ANYTHING GOES using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells. There are TWO WINNERS for each challenge. One will be a random winner and the other is chosen by the Design Team. Each winner will receive a generous $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

I incorporated 2 different dies to create today's layout of my 2 teenagers in Boston for the New England Patriot's Superbowl Parade. First, I started with the Little Hexagon Border Layer from Poppystamps.  I ran several scraps of black cardstock through my Big Shot, overlapping the hexagon die to give it a rough, messy look. For my title I used the Hollow Hello Die from Frantic Stamps paired with sticker letters. I love how thin the "Hello" is, and I even saved the letters cut from the center to use for another layout!

Dodgeball Champs

Hello crafty friends! There's a new Saturday Morning Cartoons Sketch challenge up on the Scrap Our Stash challenge blog.

I took inspiration from the Care Bear, Champ. When I was a kid, Champ was a tannish-orange bear, but they have since given him a makeover and he is blue! So I have both tannish-orange and blue colors in my layout. I went to my stash of sports-themed papers, and found a blue pattern that worked well as the jumbo circle in the sketch. I layered the circle over the orange strips of pattern paper in my stash, and tucked a few stars leftover from a previous project abover and below my photos. To incorporate Champ's Belly Badge, I printed a picture of the bear from Google Images, fussy cut the trophy, and popped it up on dimensionals on the left side. Looking forward to seeing your take on this Saturday Cartoon Sketch challenge. Thanks for stopping by! =) T

Home Sweet Home

Hello crafty friends! I'm so excited to annouce that I have a new design team assignment, I'm now a member of the DT over at Scrapy Land Challenges!

For my first challenge, I decided to make a layout about our new puppy, Bellatrix. Since she was settling in to her new home with us, I used this adorable Little Town border die from Lawn Fawn and made 2 layers of bright pink homes from scrap paper and layered them at the bottom of my photos. I also added another scrap of those adorable little homes on the bottom right of the layout.

I hope you'll stop by the Scrapy Land challange blog to see what the rest of the DT have come up with, and take part in the challenge too! You have until April 30th to upload your entry for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate. Thanks for stopping by! =) T

Yay Last Day

Hello crafty friends! back again with a fun layout I made the other day.I was trying to finish up a few March challenges over at Paper Issues, and when I saw the challenge "Sassy Scallops" I just knew it was time to break out my new Rainbow Border Maker Cartridge I just got from my friend and Creative Memories consultant Karen

I pulled out my latest kit from The Wild Hare Kits and grabbed this fabulous rainbow striped paper from Heidi Swapp. I was hoping the stripes would be thick enough to punch into individual rainbow borders. I started punching and it was like this pattern paper was made for this punch!

So after punching apart the ENTIRE sheet, I had a pile of rainbows in ALL THE COLORS!! Played a bit with the placement, I really didn't need that many rainbows.... watch for them to pop up again in a future layout! So here's what I came up with:

Since I was only using 1 photo (my kiddos on the last day of 10th and 11th grade last June), the full 12" rainbows would have really overpowered the picture. I decided to place the pic on an angle and just used 5 border pieces trimmed down to 4" in length.  I really like how it frames the photo and draws you right in. I added 2 little strips of notebook-punched index cards to reinforce the "school" theme, sprinkled some star sequins, and of course did a tiny bit of messy mixed media. I just added a splash of light blue Shimmerz on either side of the photo.

I really had NO IDEA what to do for a title...by the time your kids are finishing 10th and 11th grade, you have blown through every possible creative "last day of school" title! But I had this "yay" sticker in my stash, and so I know "Yay Last Day" is kind of silly, but it uses a sticker and I got to use my favorite new ABC stamps from Mama Elephant! Thanks for stopping by! =) T
