Mother's Day- Childs Play Challenges

This week's challenge at Child's Play is to create a layout based on the story book, "Are You My Mother". I decided to use the turquoise and yellow from the cover and scrap a family photo from Mother's Day:

I decide to USE MY STASH for the weekly challenge at Use It Tuesday, so I stapled the last scrap or yellow ribbon from my stash as photo corners, used "the facts" journaling card that I've been hoarding for 3 years, and stamped on a strip of white paper that was from a package of album refills.

If you'd like to take part in this or any of our May challenges, be sure to visit us at Child's Play Challenges and link up by May 31st! =) T

K'Nex- Crafting Family Post

So happy that I'm back to posting every Tuesday for Crafting Family (you can read about my comeback here) !! Today's post is a quick layout I made using some great papers from Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye:

Have sort of become addicted to the red/turquoise color combo, but it's just so bright and cheery who can resist? I have a fun new purchase of a cloud border punch from EK Success that I used on the bottom portion of my grey and white chevron PP. For some texture I added a strip of ric rac, a chipboard spot for my title and a fabric butterfly from my Etsy shop.

Stop on by Crafting Family to see all the great DT members, we'll be posting there every day, so always something to be inspired by! =) T

Let's Go- Paper Issues

The latest theme over at Paper Issues is "Let's Go Abroad", and while I didn't have any travel pictures, I did have a fabulous sheet of of car paper that I have been hoarding for years! Since I've been saving it forever for "the perfect page", I figured I'd use it since the playful pattern and bright primary colors go well with this sweet photo of my nephew.

My little go-to trick on this layout is with my monagram A- I cut this letter out 7 times from the Cricut, ran one letter through my Big Shot to emboss it, and then stacked them all to create a faux chipboard letter! There are a TON of fabulous "Let's Go Abroad" projects over at Paper Issues, I hope you'll go check them out and link up with us too! =) T

Snooze- Child's Play Challenges

This week at Child's Play Challenges we're scrapping with a little help from our friend, Mr. Potato Head! I decide to go with a Kraft background to mimic the brown of the potato, and then added some primary colors to match his accesories!

Other than the background cardstock, this layout was put together with nothing bt scraps! The plaid scalloped strip is really only 8" long, so I cut it and made it look like it went behind the layout, a sneaky way to make less look like more! The journal card was also cut in half and split to elongate it a bit! I also mimicked this splitting trick by stamping the chevron design in sections at the top and bottom, rather than filling the entire page.

Stop on by Child's Play Challenges to see how the rest of the DT was inspired to create with Mr. Potato Head! =)T

Rain Dance- Color Challenge for True XOXO

It's all about color this month at True XOXO...but instead of beautiful colors that you love, it's all about the color combos you hate to work with, those unconventional colors and the NON go-to colors. I decided to go with mustard yellow- not a fan of yellow in my LOs anyway, but mustard? Well that's just horrid! I also combined it with navy, which is another color I rarely use, I'm much more of a sky blue scrapper! Here's what I came up with:

well, this is NOT my favorite layout in the world, but I have to admit, I kinda like it (maybe not enough to use mustard again, but I can put this LO in the scrapbook without cringing!). If you have color combos that you shy away from, dig them out and link them up with us at True XOXO! =) T

Call Family 2008- Craft Garden

Last day to take part in the CHILDS PLAY BLOG HOP!!

Hello and Happy May!! Today starts a new month and a new challenge at The Craft Garden! This month we have a gorgeous pic to inspire us, icey popsicles in lovely spring colors. Here's what I came up with:

Every year I make a photo collage of a few of my favorite pics from that year, and use that as the "title page" of the annual scrapbook. I realized I was behind, and have been catching up by making the collages of past years- look for more of these coming soon! It's a quick and easy way to get a bunch of pics all on one layout without getting too busy!

Check out the rest of the DT's yummy projects, and link up your own with us by May 31st at The Craft Garden! =) T
