Layouts that Recycle!

It's a new challenge at Lasting Memories, incorporating recycled items on your layouts. This is my kind of challenge, almost every page I do has a bit of recycled treasure on it. Here's what I came up with today:

Can you spot the recycled items (*hint: there are 2)? If you guessed lunch bag and wallpaper, you are correct!! See the brown strip tucked into the top of my photos? That's the lunch bag, inked up a little of course! And the small rectangle of floral on the bottom left- that's a scrap of wallpaper!

It's so much fun to incorporate these kinds of goodies into your layouts, start a little shoebox of clothing tags, ribbon from gift wrap, or interesting packing materials that come in the mail. See how you can turn these every-day objects into pretty little embellies! The link up your recycled creations at Lasting Memories by this week, we'd love to see what you come up with! =) T

"1st Treats of the Summer" is being entered in the following challenges:
-Scrapalicious cold treats
-Flourish brown bag
-City Crafter first or #1
-Punky Scraps 5 photos, 4 alphas, 3pp, 2 mists/paint, 1 stamp
-Pattie's Creations photo inspiration

Fairy Happy Birthday!

It's a FAIRY challenge at 2 Sisters, and we were able to use sweet fairy images from The Stamping Boutique. I decided to deviate from my usual greeting card and make a fairy wand. Before the glitter was even dry, I heard a little squeal of delight from my DD, followed by "oooh, can I keep this". Didn't intend to give it to her, but who can say no to such an adorable little squeaky request? =) T

"Fairy Happy Birthday" wand is being entered in the following challenges:
-Divas by Design anything but a card
-The Outlawz things with wings and colored with chalk
-Color Dare red peach pear

Open Challenge at Sketches in Thyme

This week's challenge at Sketches in Thyme is an open challenge, which means all you need to do to participate is create a layout using ANY SKETCH!! I decided to use this fabulous sketch from Design Dollies:

I also incorporated this color scheme from Color Q:
And I combined with a few other challenges while I was at it: The PATRIOTIC theme at Whimsical Wednesdays, RED WHITE and BLUE challenge ay Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog, I added TWINE to my button for Crazy 4 Challenges and the ADMIRE challenge at Bird is the Word- all combined to create this quick and easy layout of my daughter marching in her first Memorial Day Parade! =) T

Playing Catch-Up on some DT assigments

Wow- I have had a crazy few days with Father's Day, Soccerpalooza, Soccer Tournaments and my husband winning Coach of the Year and today is his birthday. Have not had a single moment to blog my craft endeavors, so if it's alright with you, I'm going to mash them all up into one long blog post!

First up, it's time for another challenge at 2 Sisters, this time around it's creating cards for the guys in your life. The DT was able to use images from Robin's Fetish and here's what I created:

Tiffany

Cute little pie chef, huh? In addition to creating my "What's Cookin" card for 2 Sisters FOR A GUY challenge, its also following the SKETCH at Eat Sleep Stamp, I used the INTINERARY at Desert Island Craft Challenge (distress, something found -bingo card- & 3 different papers), and I'm also entering it in the MEN challenge at If the Shoe Fits.

Ok, design team project #2 is for the fabulous Lasting Memories. This week the assigment is to make a layout based on this photo:

and here's my take:

I went with the blues, greens and orange color scheme and added a jumbo DIECUT to go with that scalloped white border (for the challenge at Use It Tuesday). The adorable vintage playing card with the NUMBER 2 is for Workout #8 at Scrap FIT. I created the cute little "Lemon" title in word with 3 DIFFERENT FONTS for The Paper Variety and I followed the S.T.A.R. challenge at Papercraft Star by using Smootch Spray (*S), Tape (*T), Antique playing card (*A) and Ribbon (*R).

And last up is assignment #3, my design team project for Scrap It With a Song. This week's song is "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga, and I must admit, this one stumped me for a bit. The lyrics are a kinda racy, and didn't seem appropriate for ANY photos I had...but then I remembered a crazy pic of my DH and DD. They're both making goofy faces and while DH is holding a hand of gift cards, (lucky guy) NOT playing cards, I think it still works:

For this fun layout I incorporated STARS for the challenge at Do You Stack Up in the pattern paper as well as the yellow foam star sheet. This is actually a leftover from one of the kiddo's craft projects, after they popped out all the stars, this was left and I thought it was just too cute to throw away! I added a strip of red gingham paper punched using my scallop BORDER PUNCH for Stampin Bs.

Yikes- think that's it for today on playing catch-up!!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend with the favorite dads in your life!! =) T

Sketches in Thyme Thursday Takes #50

Time for another sketch at Sketches in Thyme, and I was lucky enough to get the chance to design again, so here's my sketch:

And here's my layout:

Nice layout with simple, clean lines. I substituted a journaling block for the 2nd photo, and placed a nice overlay with a quote about brothers over the photo as my title. Be sure and visit Sketches in Thyme to see the rest of the DTs takes on my sketch. Link up your take on any (or all) of the June challenges by Wednesday, June 29th to be entered in our June drawing, a $20 Gift Certificate from The Paper Trail!! =) T

"Brothers" is being entered in the following challenges:
-If the Shoe Fits masculine
-Critter Sketch Challenge chocolate brown
-Cupcake Craft Challenge boy oh boy

Schools Out at Scrap FIT!!

It's a new challenge up at Scrap FIT, and I get to participate again as a Guest Fit Girl!! The theme for this challenge is "Schools out for Summer" (and with only 1 week left of school for my family, those words are music to my ears!!). Here's the layout I came up with:

Used a piece of ruled paper (turned sideways) as a photo mat- inked up a bit for my favorite DISTRESSED messy look for the challenge at Everybody Art Challenge! I added a strip of vintage TICKETS since this layout is a pic from my daughter's school concert (to go with the challenge at Rainbow Lady). I also played along with the SCRAPBOOK BINGO challenge at Scraptivations:

I did the bottom row, brads (check out the jumbo in the center of the flower), CS background (yup), circle (4 funky paper clips) and one photo (yes). That's it for today, enjoy! =) T

Time for Triplicate Trial Tuesdays #2

Wow- that's a mouthful, "Triplicate Trial Tuesdays #2"!! This blog is so fabulous, each new challenge consists of 3 elements (color, sketch & theme) for you to artfully combine into one fabulous project! Here's what's in store this time around:

I simply loved this challenge, so I created 2 different projects. First up is my "Hi cupcake" card I created using layers of scraps in the appropriate colors, all inked up for messy fun! I added a sweet cupcake using my Stampin' Up cupcake punch (purchased from my friend Christyann), and three little poppy colored buttons on the side.

Next up I made a layout using pics from a bday party my daughter attended. Instead of the 3 stars on the side in the sketch, I used adorable little chipboard paper doll cut outs to go with the "Glamour Girl" theme. The darling pieces of clothing are inked and embossed and dressed with twine-tied buttons in poppy, sunrise and rain. My spring rain background was misted with poppy mist, and I added fun jumbo scallops made of cupcake wrappers along the side!

I hope you'll have a chance to visit the rest of the Triple T designers and see the great projects they have going on! Then join in the challenge too! You have until June 28th to link up your take! =) T

DIY Background at Lasting Memories

Time for Lasting Memories Challenge #42, and it's a good one: create your own background using punches!! So many different ideas from the DT, here's what I came up with:

My sweet little boy enjoying a relaxing bubble bath- it's the only time he ever sits still for more than 5 minutes!! To create my background, I cut 1" strips of 2 different pattern papers and then punched each strip with my Fiskars scallop punch. I inked up each strip with charcoal to help them stand out, and then layered them onto my cardstock base (MISTED first for the challenge at Little Red Wagon). A super easy way to create an interesting background, and a great way to use scraps too! And speaking of SCRAPS, I am entering this in this month's itinerary challenge at Desert Island Crafters Challenge (I am using glimmer mist, orange and scraps from the itinerary). I've placed my title, "Bubble Baths are AMAZING" (for the Bird is the Word challenge) on a Jenni Bowlin KRAFT journal spot for the challenge at Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.

I hope you'll visit the rest of the Lasting Memories DT to check out their fabulous entries, and be sure to link up your own DIY background by Saturday! =) T

PS I'm linking up this blog post with the "Made it Myself" linking party happeneing right now at You Had Me At Craft. Go over and check it out, there are some super cool projects linked up there!!

Father's Day Wishes

It's time for a new challenge at 2 Sisters, this week it's a 1,2,3 challenge: 1 image, 2 papers, 3 different embellies. Us DT girls were able to use some super-cute images from our sponsors, Patties Creations and Whimsie Doodle.     Here's my "Happy Father's Day" card using the adorable "Timber Beaver" image from Whimsie Doodle:

Isn't that little tie-wearing beaver the best??? I printed my "happy father's day" sentiment in a circle around the digital image using Word Art, one of my favorite ways to do a title. As always, I am combining a few other challenges into this project:

The FATHERS DAY theme is for Whimsical Wednesday and the BLUE/BLACK color scheme is for Cards for Men. I also included the beaver for the ANIMAL challenge at Tuesday Throwdown, PUNCHED out in a 2" circle for Stamp Something. Oh and I followed this fantastic sketch from Mojo Monday:

Now be sure to hop on over to 2 Sisters and see all the great 1,2,3 cards the DT created, and link up your take by Friday, June 17th! =) T

Sketches in Thyme Thursday Takes #49

It's time for a new sketch challenge at Sketches in Thyme, and this week it's another sketch I designed, what do you think of it?

And here's the layout I created:

So I have to tell you- I love the sketch and had such high hopes of what I would create....but I HATE how my LO came out!! I think it's the background color, it's just too dark and you just can't see the pics (and it doesn't help that the quality of the pics isn't all that great to begin with). I normally have a policy that i NEVER re-do layouts, but in this case I think I absolutely have to- I guess since I hated it from the moment I put it together it's ok to re-do....any suggestions?

I hope you'll visit Sketches in Thyme and see what the rest of the Mavens created, because they really did a fabulous job with the sketch!! I hope it inspires you to give the sketch a try and link up your take by June 29th for a chance to win a $20 Gift Certificate from The Paper Trail!! =) T

The Time of My Life

looking for the Punky Scraps Blog Hop? Just go here.

Oh I remember going to see Dirty Dancing in the theater- was a bit embarressing to go to that particular movie with my grandmother, but how I LOVED it!! The perfect summer-time romance combined with dancing and a fabulous soundtrack too! Which brings me to this week's challenge (and my first as a Pop Gal) at Scrap It With a Song- "The Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing, by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes. Here's what I came up with for the challenge:

I wasn't actually on this vaca with my family; I had gone back to school and couldn't skip out on my classes, no matter how once-in-a-lifetime a trip it was! So, I changed the title to be "the time of YOUR life". It's a pretty simple layout, but I do have a few fun things to note: The yellow scallop is my own little hand-drawn free-form scallop. The map is a piece I ripped out of an old atlas- these kinds of yard-sale finds always make for eclectic additions to a layout!

Be sure and visit Scrap It With a Song to see the rest of the "Time of Your Life" inspired projects from the other Pop Gals. Link up your interpretation by Saturday for your chance to be in our top 5, and perhaps get in on the prize action from our sponsor, Fancy Pants!! =) T

A Sketch with Some Bling at Lasting Memories

Looking for the Punky Scraps Blog Hop? Go here!

It's time for a sketch challenge at Lasting Memories, with the added challenge of BLING, BLING, and more BLING!! Here's the fun sketch to work with:

And here's my take on the sketch:

I changed up the sketch a bit, to work with the photos I was using. So...instead of the 2 off-set photos at the top, I cut frames from a piece of pattern paper, added funky corrugated stars and BLINGED them up with glitter!! I also added 3 mini stars down the side, also with glitter and little gems as well.

Now it's your turn! Go on over to Lasting Memories to see all the other BLINGED out layouts, and then be sure to link up your project by Friday! =) T

2 Sisters Challenge #42- Silhouettes

It's time for another challenge over at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog, and this week we are sponsored by the fabulous Stitchy Bear Stamps. us Design Team girls were given some amazing silhouette images to use for the challenge, here's what I created using the Ballerina stamp:

Such a bright, fun card, can you guess what my jumbo scallops are made from? here's a hint: I'm entering this card in ScrapFITs "AROUND THE HOUSE" challenge....Give up? The jumbo scallops are cupcake liners! Adorable cupcake liners in fact, too cute to be wasted on cake, I thought they just HAD to be used in my paper crafting! I bought these little cuties in a TON of colors and patterns, so I'm sure you'll see them appearing many more times in my projects!!

Since I have incorporated cupcake liners, I'll be entering this in the "YOU'RE THE SPRINKLE IN MY LIFE" challenge at Pile It On, as well as the CUPCAKE challenge at Aly's Sunday Challenge.  The color scheme is for the SUMMER CITRUS SPLASH challenge at Paper Play.

Be sure to visit 2 Sisters and check out the rest of the lovely silhouette cards, and link up your own project by Friday, June 10th! =) T

Exciting News to Share!!!

So excited to share my news...I've been chosen to be a new Pop Gal at Scrap it With a Song!! If you're not familiar with this challenge blog, you are definitely going to want to check it out. A new playlist is posted each Monday, with a new song for your scrapping inspiration. Stay tuned...I'll be sharing my first go as a DT member with you next week!

And the good news just keeps on coming! I'm a guest designer at Scrap Fit this month!!
Photobucket

This is a fun challenge blog that issues 2 workouts per month, and they are all about keeping you actively scrappin'! This week's workout is "Around the House", sending you on a scavenger hunt in your home to repurpose non-scapbooking items into your layout. Here's my contribution:

My "around the house" item is the back of an old notebook. I have a bin in my craft room of items just like this, things I can't part with because they seem like they would be much better suited on a layout than in the recycle bin! I dressed up the notebook backing with a bit of acrylic paint and added ribbons in the 3-ring holes, they just seemed perfect for this! Be sure to stop on over and see the Scrap Fit DT's fantastic "around the house" creations, and link up your own projects by June 30th! =) T

Who's up for Some Candy???

just doing a bit of blog hopping today, and came across some delicious candy I thought I'd tell you about!! First up, there's some mystery candy over at Triplicate Trials Tuesday. Next we have Scrap with Stacy giving away this yummy package of goodies:

and what about this assortment from Denise:

ooh, and delicious candy from Sweet Stampin...

Good luck my friends!! =) T

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Since June is a traditional month for weddings, this month's challenge at The Craft Garden is incorporating the rhyme, "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue". What a fun challenge, here's the layout I've created:

And I based it on this lovely sketch from The Studio Challenges:

Yup, I used to be in the High School Marching Band! I was sadly not all that musically talented, but really, really, really wanted to be in band! So, I played the cymbals!! For this layout I dug up a group photo from a night during band camp (picture circa 1991=SOMETHING OLD) and layered on top of a jumbo star I cut from a sheet in an old teacher's grade book (SOMETHING OLD #2). You can see my SOMETHING BLUE in the papers and strip of fabric. My SOMETHING NEW items are the Thickers for the title and the PP.

I also incorporated a few other challenges in this layout, as I always love to do. The layout is a pic from my SUMMER at band camp for Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog. I have used 3+ EMBELLISHMENTS for the V is Variety challenge at The ABC Challenge. The teeny tiny little musical note butterfly on the flower is for the THINGS WITH WINGS challenge at All Sorts Challenge Blog). My photo is matted on a piece of RECYCLED CARDBOARD, and I've used acrylic PAINT on my tag for the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog.

Now don't forget to get in on the "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue" action! Share your creation by linking up your project at The Craft Garden this month! =) T
